Retaliation

My personal review of this album here

I freaking love this album so much, really heavy stuff. I showed this one to my brother and told him that this was Peter Steele singer and bassist for Type O Negative and he lost it, he couldn't believe how different they sounded. I personally loved all the guitar in the album and some of the dark humor in the album (I feel like we can all admit Jesus Hitler was a funny as hell track). My favortie track was S.M.D because I heavily resonated with the lines "I have a right to be myself! And you can go f*** yourself!"

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

This is my alltime favorite Nirvana album, my dad doesn't like these guys but they mean so much to me. I loved all the guitar and drums on this album and Kurt's voice is so easy for me to understand. My reccomended track: Marigold, this song has been stuck in my head for weeks

Nothing To Fear

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

One of my favorite 80s new wave albums (maybe mostly because I have a crush on Danny Elfman). I really like all the silly instruments they use and I love every song on the album with every fibre of my being, it's an overall favorite album of mine though I can't say my dad's that big of a fan but my dad also just has a general dislike of 80s new wave stuff. My Reccomended Track: Wild Sex (In The Working Class), It's no surprise I like this one, as I did state that I like Danny. But I also like the tune this song carries with it so don't assume it's just because I have a crush on him! 🤭

The Moomins by Graeme Miller and Steve Shill

Moomins

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

Ahhh, this is a wonderful woodsy album that doubles as the soundtrack to the 1978 fuzzy felt Moomins. I get so happy every time I listen to it and it just excites me to here the moomin theme, it's a song I can whistle in it's entirety because it used to amuse my baby sister. My reccomended track: Woodland Band Far Away, this one is so silly and exciting and it sounds like a little party full of deer and bunny rabbits and hedgehogs and such.

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

I freaking love this album and this band! My dad showed them to me because he knows I love metal music and he knows I love Transformers so he's given me the most awesome combo of all time! With it's lyrics based upon the original 80's cartoon and the awesome guitar and drums this is an alltime favorite. I absolutely love the album art as well, it's so cool looking. My reccomended track: Blood Drinkers, I just like it's sound and commentary on the current political status of the US.

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

Who doesn't love swedish chippunk music? The answer, most normal people. I however, am not normal lol. I love this album so much! all the wonderful chiptunes and Elvis Creep's vocals are an interesting and addicting mix. I think these guys deserve more love than they get. My dad says they're altight but I give them a 10/10 on this one. My Reccomended Track: Satan You And Me, I just love the sound of this and the chorus is so catchy it gets stuck in your head for weeks.

On Avery Island by Neutral Milk Hotel

On Avery Island

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

An alltime favorite from Neutral Milk Hotel, and to think at the time it was pretty much only Jeff Magnum. I actually showed this band to my dad and he pointed out the similarity to The Thermals which is another band I really like now. I think I'd give this album a 10/10 the muffled garage noise is comforting to me. My Reccomended Track: Gardenhead/Leave Me Alone, It's a story about battles with drug addiction and a girl who's ultimately bad for him.

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

I really like this album, it was one of my favorites and I listened to it for the first time because of their song Prison Sex which I loved the music video for. I've always been a huge stop motion animation fan so I really liked it. 9/10 there are some songs that could be a bit better but overall it was a great experince. My Reccomended Track: Prison sex, it has a deep gutteral feeling to it that makes me excited right before coming on (plus it was on beavis and butthead)

See You On The Other Side

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

This is one of my favorite Korn albums for the album art. It's The whole reason I decided to listen to it in the first place. I ended up really liking all of Jonathan's vocals on this album. I think this would have to be a 9/10. My reccomended track: Coming undone, it's just got such a powerful feel to it.

An intro into the band Tool for me. I really ended up liking this album, it was a good thing for me to space out on the bus to. It's a good way to feel warm in these cold Washington winters 9/10. My reccomended Track: Part Of Me, this is perfect. A real representation of how I felt living with my mom. I've never felt so understood.

Straight Outta Compton by N.W.A.

Straight Outta Compton

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

My intro to rap music. I was introduced to this album by my younger brother Preston who was very into rap at the time. This album reminds me of laying in the backyard lazily in the pool blasting this from my crappy bluetooth speaker while talking to him. Too bad he turned out to be a major jerk after I moved away to live with dad because this one is a solid 9/10. My reccomended Track: Express Yourself, I feel it carrys a beautiful message about expressing yourself no matter what others say about it.

Carnival Of Killers

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

Ah, what more could a true crime obsessed metal head ask for. This is everything I've ever wanted! An amazing high energy combo of Grindcore and Thrash as well as serial killer facts. I give this a 10/10. My reccomended Track: Tea Cakes, An interesting song about Leonarda Cianciulli an italian female serial killer who would kill people and make them into soap and tea cakes as she belived it would keep her children safe.

Matando Gueros

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

This is an album with a gory cover I will not be showing on my site sadly. But I really do like this album, it brings me closer to my dad and funnily he got in trouble in highschool for wearing a shirt with the cover on it. I'd have to give this spanish death metal album a 7/10. My reccomended Track: Matando Gueros, I have no clue what is being said but it goes hard as fuck!

Crywank

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

This album was very sad. I've found it's quietness to help with writing but I feel it is a little anticlimatic. I'd give this a 5/10. My Reccomended track: Song For A Guilty Sadist, I like the internal conflict and it reminds me of one of my characters.

Just Another Diamond Day by Vashti Bunyan

Just Another Diamond Day

My Personal Review Of This Album Here

I love this very folksy album! The music all reminds me of visiting my aunt Dorla's ranch. It feels like the sort of stuff she'd enjoy. It also reminds me of my great grandma Patty. I listen to it when I'm missing her and when I miss the warm summer weather. It just makes me think of the cool breeze while I lay down under the big willow tree in front of the house at the ranch. My Reccomended Track: Jog Along Bess, I love the thought of all these animals and people going on an adventure together. It feels like a story I'd tell my baby brother.

Ode To Dawn Weiner: Embarassing Love Songs by Nicole Dollanganger

Nicole Dollanganger

My Personal Review Of This Album Here:

One of my favorite albums by one of my favorite artists! This is an album full of some uniquely Nicole Dollanganger love songs. Almost every song is deeply sexual with strong emotions behind them, I give this a 9/10. My reccomended track: My Pug, A song that sounds like it's about a man until the end when she reveals it's actually about her dog. (Fun fact! said dog was on the album cover for Heart Shaped Bed.)

Jack Off Jill

My Personal Review Of This Album Here:

This is a very emo album to me but one of the far better ones. It's definitely more of what my friend Jaz listens to. She really enjoys this sort of music. I really enjoyed this album and I think I'd rate it 7/10. My reccomended track: Vivica, I like the story of two girls in love and one trying to save the other from an abusive relationship. It reminds me of the episode The Mask from Courage The Cowardly Dog.

Raza Odiada by Brujeria

Brujeria

My personal reveiew of this album here:

An interesting and violent look at the growing hatered for Mexicans in the US from the perspective of violent cartel members and statanists. It's great to see even they oppose the racist views some of our politicians and citizens seem to think is okay to have. Brujeria will always be special to me because they are one of the first bands my dad showed me when I moved in with him. I give this one a 9.5/10. My reccomended track" Raza Odiada (Pito Wilson). I love the message of this song and it makes for an amazing opening track. The start with them watching television and hearing Pete Wilson talking about how poorly he wants the Mexicans in America to be treated and them having a very violent reaction.

Heartleap by Vashti Bunyan

heartleap

My Personal Review Of This Album Here:

Heartleap is one of my all time favorites. It has such a beautifully sweet whimsical feel to it and it reminds me of storytime as a small child. Every song on this album brings me tears of joy and I love the album art of this beautiful white reindeer that feels straight out of a storybook. My reccomended track: Mother. It's such a soft and sweet tune of Vashti's childhood that has inspired many stories to do with my character Molly.

White Light from the Mouth of Infinity by SWANS

Deryk Thomas

My Personal Review Of This Album Here:

This album is one of the more interesting works I've heard from SWANS, it' much different from the first album I heard from them (Filth). It starts off loud and crazy right off the bat and I love it. It goes from this sweet gurgling baby to a cacophony of orchestral instruments and it's very jarring. I think I'd reccomend this album to risk takers who love to adventure far from the normal stuff you hear on the radio, this one is a solid 10/10 for me! My reccomended track is: Love Will Save You, I interpret this song as a calling to all the real things love can help you through because if you have love it can help you push through all the dark points in your life.

Dear God, I Hate Myself by Xiu Xiu

Dear God, I Hate Myself

My personal review of this album here:

This is a very sensibly nonsensical album with jarring combinations of synth and traditional instruments I've come to expect of Xiu Xiu, but something about this album is still so beautifully different and I just love it. This is the kind of music and art I live for. I also really enjoy the simplistic album cover. Such a simple photo of Jamie Stewart can somehow speak a thousand words. A solid 9/10 from me. My reccomended track: House Sparrow, this song is the first in years to truly bring tears to my eyes and I love it so much! A haunting song about the serial killer Richard Chase.
